about embrya
“For me, care has always existed through food, community, and showing up for people.”
Embrya was founded by Shanice Jackson, a MamaGlow trained doula with a background in hospitality, nutrition, and supporting children and families through school and community work. Drawn to motherhood, pregnancy, and birth long before becoming a doula professionally, Shanice felt deeply connected to the care, transformation, and vulnerability surrounding those experiences.
After hearing the stories women carried with them from pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, she felt called toward work that allowed women to feel more informed, cared for, reassured, and supported throughout those seasons of life. What began through food, service, and caring for others eventually grew into Embrya, a space centered around guidance, nourishment, education, and maternal support.
Embrya offers birth and postpartum doula care, nourishment services, and education for women and families throughout New Jersey. Support may look like preparing for labor, helping navigate questions and decisions, checking in during postpartum recovery, preparing nourishing meals, or simply making sure someone feels cared for during a time that can feel overwhelming and life changing all at once.
At its core, Embrya was built on the belief that women deserve access to guidance, reassurance, and support without feeling like they have to navigate pregnancy, birth, and postpartum on their own.
